PowerPay, a Portland-based provider of integrated eCommerce and point-of-sale (POS) payment processing solutions, needed assistance implementing a new accounting system and converting from an old system. They partnered with Gilchrist Scott and met these goals, finding the company's customized approach to working with clients refreshing.

Richard Borts, a former Chief Financial Officer of PowerPay, who worked closely with Gilchrist Scott during that time, said the company works collaboratively.

"While there is a standard process to perform their work, they don't just use that and expect every customer will be successful with a singular approach," Richard explained. "They figure out what their customers' exact needs are and customize their service to that."

Richard said Gilchrist Scott provided PowerPay with a simple and straightforward process once the conversion was complete. The core information generated from this system forms the basis of reporting that is used to help manage the company outside of the finance department. PowerPay's prior system did not have sufficient controls on the information, so staff was unable to make changes after a certain point.

Over time Gilchrist Scott provided additional services to help PowerPay maintain and upgrade to new
versions, and also built interfaces for that system and other company systems.

"Gilchrist Scott did excellent work," Richard said. "They partnered with us to find a solution that met our needs and gave us consistent control of accurate data."

Nevertheless, it is Gilchrist Scott's expertise in Great Plains that makes them invaluable to clients.

"We gained significant knowledge of the systems after they were installed, but Gilchrist Scott is still the expert. They use the product in multiple environments and with multiple companies," Richard noted. "We needed an expert that could walk us through the process, and we found one in Gilchrist Scott."
