Quickbooks is a widely used accounting package for many small businesses and for the money, it provides good functionality. However, as you grow, you may feel some pains from using Quickbooks, including but certainly not limited to a delay in response time from the application as you select menus and try to navigate through the program. Once these symptoms start rearing their ugly head, there is little that can be done to reverse the effects. It is no wonder then, why a majority of the new customers we work with are migrating off smaller packages like Quickbooks. (more…)

Wouldn’t it Be Great if Dynamics GP…
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009You use Dynamics GP and love how dependable, scalable, flexible and easy to use it is, but have you ever had a great idea for how GP could be made that much better? Maybe you would like to see something changed or something added - either way, what do you do with this gem, this idea? Well, the Dynamics team at Microsoft is listening. In fact, many of the enhancements that have been added to GP in recent years are a result of suggestions from customers and partners alike. So, how does one submit a suggestion?
First, go to MS Connect and if you already have a Windows LiveID, click “Sign In”. Next, you need to create a connection to Microsoft Dynamics (scroll down a little - you’ll see it). Once you have this connection, simply click on “Create New Product Feedback”. From your dashboard, which is your homepage at MS Connect, you’ll be able to keep track of the suggestions you’ve made. If you would like to know what happens to those suggestions once you make them, check out this blog post directly from the Dynamics team at Microsoft.
Incidentally, the above also applies to AX, NAV, SL and CRM, but we here at Gilchrist Scott are blatantly biased toward Dynamics GP!

Microsoft Announces New Flexible Payment Option
Friday, April 24th, 2009Flexible, Predictable and Affordable Solutions from Microsoft Dynamics
This past week, Microsoft announced a new flexible payment option called “Business Ready Flexible Pay”. In a nutshell, it is designed to help businesses who know they want to make the move to Dynamics GP but have concerns about cash flow. Instead of paying for the software in one lump sum up front, Microsoft is going to allow you to pay for it in 3 installments, over the course of the next three years, with no interest! This is not a financing option. At the end of the three years, you will own your software outright, so it is not a lease. The caveats are that it does not include the services associated with the implementation, such as installation and training and the software cost must be in excess of $30,000. regardless, this is a great opportunity for companies looking to make the move - we were very excited about this new option.

Virtual Convergence
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009This week, Microsoft released “Virtual Convergence”. This is an online portal where you can access presentations from different tracts as well as the key notes and a wealth of other information. If you did not attend Convergence and therefore do not have login credentials, there is limited capability, but still very cool nonetheless. Check out Virtual Convergence and see for yourself!
