Choices.
How we spend our time each day, month, year, is entirely up to each one of us. While it may seem that we are held captive by outside forces, we all have choices. If we choose to plan our time rather than react to the demands on our time, we will inevitably be more productive and have more time for the things we enjoy.
If you’re living in the Dynamics GP world the way I am, and you want to plan your time in order to maximize productivity, I suggest you plan now for the following opportunities.
- Attend Convergence 2010
- Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 (code name GP11) will be the featured topic at this customer focused event in Atlanta, GA in April. Why wait to learn how features like Microsoft Office integration and reporting changes will reduce time and effort?
- Learn tips and tricks from customers, partners, and Microsoft team members and experience how small changes can make big differences.
- Understand the opportunities that will become available with Dynamics GP price changes - effective May 2010.
- If you’re using Microsoft Excel, make time to learn how Excel Reports and Smartlist Builder can simplify and streamline Excel reporting.
- Monthly Reconciliations - everyone should be reconciling sub ledgers to the General Ledger, but it shouldn’t be time consuming. There are tools available to simplify this process!
- Workflow and approvals/alerts. You are lucky enough to be using a software system that is designed to notify people when an event occurs and invoke a step-by-step mandatory process. Using paper and manual systems is not necessary for many day to day processes.
- Join a User Group - Local or National. Collaborate with peers.
Besides Dynamics GP, why not make a list of the opportunities you should consider in other areas of your life? Plan your time, use it wisely, and be prepared to enjoy the control and freedom that comes your way.
