Convergence 2010: Should I Bother?

My immediate answer to this, every year is always YES and here is why:

  • It is far and away Microsoft’s largest user conference;
  • Unrivaled access to the actual Microsoft employees who create and support the product you depend on for your day to day activities in your business;
  • Countless learning events throughout the week, including several different tracts depending on your industry and role;
  • Networking events are plentiful; where else will you have the opportunity to talk to other businesses very similar to yours, who use GP and find out what works well for them?

But this year especially is a HUGE YES and here is why: GP 11 or GP 2010, is scheduled to be released in May of 2010 - where else are you going to see, first hand, all of the changes and updates that are part of this major new version? The focus for this year’s Convergence is going to be this new release. Sure, there are regional road shows, but they are never as good and will not give you the type of learning opportunities or access to Microsoft support that you will get at Convergence.

The next question often is “who from the organization should attend?“. Well, there are several tracts for most anyone whose job touches GP - there will be upgrade, Business Portal, Sharepoint and Excel Reporting how to’s for the technical folk, there will be best practices, industry & product specific round-tables as well as specific module training offered for the end users and there will be big picture strategy and higher level direction sessions for the managers, business owners and executives.

Registration is now open and I strongly urge you to consider attending or sending someone from your organization to attend! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out - as a Convergence veteran, I am very excited about this year’s event in Atlanta and look forward to seeing you there!
