Stimulus Plan Affects Payroll & HR

New tax table changes will be available for download the last week of March. If you process payroll in-house, be sure to get the March 2009 Round 4 U.S. Payroll Tax Update for Microsoft Dynamics GP downloaded from CustomerSource and installed for your 1st payroll in April. Round 4 includes all previous state and federal tax table updates for 2009 as well as new federal tax table and program code changes required by the recently-passed economic stimulus legislation (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009).

In addition to changes in the tax tables, the recently-passed economic stimulus legislation provides for an employer-paid 65% COBRA premium subsidy for particular workers who lost their jobs between Sept. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2009. The reimbursement of this subsidy to the employer is processed through a credit on the quarterly federal tax returns (Form 941). Dynamics GP code changes are available for this and the I-9 changes.

Hopefully the CustomerSource website will be fully functional for you to download the tax table and code changes, but if you need help, please let us know.

In case you haven’t had a chance to read the Stimulus Plan, here’s the federal website link:

For those of you who live in Maine, here’s the Recovery and Reinvestment Transparency website:
