Customizing Dynamics GP - Part 3
Microsoft Dynamics GP Shortcuts
If you’ve been following my blog posts I’m sure you have been waiting anxiously for Part 3 of the ‘Customizing GP‘ series! It’s the little things that can make our day-to-day tasks that much easier. This post is about GP Shortcuts. Shortcuts allow you to quickly open frequently used GP windows and other resources outside of GP while being logged into Microsoft Dynamics GP.
Shortcuts are displayed in the upper part of the navigation pane when your Home Page is displayed. Shortcuts function just like the Quick Links on the Home Page. One-click navigation to a GP window, a SmartList, a website, or an external program. The setup is very similar as well.

Creating a shortcut:
Right-click in the Navigation Pane area while your Home page is displayed to view the list of shortcuts you can create. It can be helpful to create a folder for your shortcuts and store them there if one doesn’t already exist. This can be done by selecting ‘Folder’ from the menu after right-clicking.

Select the type of shortcut you would like to create from the list. The following is a screen shot for adding a GP Window shortcut:

Enter the name for the shortcut you are creating, select the window from the ‘Available Windows’ list, click ‘Add’, and ‘Done’. You will now see the shortcut in your Navigation Pane as shown below:

For details about adding other shortcuts please see my prior blog post ‘Customizing GP - Quicklinks‘.
