Customizing Dynamics GP - Part 2
Quick Links - GP, web, and external program
Customizing GP can make your work day just a little bit easier, and maybe save you some time as well. I can’t tell you how much I like the Quick Link functionality within GP 10.0! It can be setup for GP Windows and Navigation lists as well as external programs, files or websites. Set some up today and experience the ease of Quick Links!
To setup new Quick Links or to modify existing, first go to the ‘Change Details’ pencil icon located in the upper right hand corner of the Quick Links area on the Home Page (if you don’t see it, hover in that area until it appears).
Go to the Quick Links Details window, click on the ‘ADD’ button to select the type of Quick Link you would like to create:
1. Microsoft Dynamics GP Window
2. Microsoft Dynamics GP Navigation List
3. Web Page
4. External Program or file

I’ve outlined the instructions for each scenario below:
Steps to create a Quick Link to a Microsoft Dynamics GP Window:
After clicking on the ‘Add’ Button, select ‘Microsoft Dynamics GP Window’ from the drop-down list. The ‘Add Command’ window will appear. The list on the left is similar to what you see in your menu bar.

Highlight the area on the left, and then navigate to the category/command on the right and expand the item in the list until you find the item you want to create the link for.

Once you’ve selected your category/command, click ‘OK’, and click ‘OK’ again in the Quick Links Detail window. Refresh your Home Page to view new Microsoft Dynamics GP Window Quick Link.

Steps to create a Quick Link to a GP Navigation List:
After clicking on the ‘Add’ Button, select ‘Microsoft Dynamics GP Navigation List’ from the drop-down list. Expand on the module, select the list, and click ‘OK’. Click ‘OK’ again in the Quick Links Detail window. Refresh your Home Page to view your new Microsoft Dynamics GP Navigation List Quick Link.

Steps for creating a Quick Link to a web site:
After clicking on the ‘Add’ Button, select ‘Web Page’

In the ‘Name’ field, assign a name to your web page Quick Link. In the ‘Address’ field enter the web page address.

Click ‘OK’ and click ‘OK’ again in the Quick Links Detail window. Refresh your Home Page to view your new Web Page Quick Link.
Steps for creating a Quick Link to an external program (Word, Excel, etc.):
After clicking on the ‘Add’ Button, select ‘External program or file’ from the drop-down list.

In the ‘Name’ field, assign a name to your External program or file Quick Link. Click on the ‘Browse’ button to select your program or file.

Click ‘OK’ and click ‘OK’ again in the Quick Links Detail window. Refresh your Home Page to view your new External Program or File Quick Link.
